"The A-bomb Dome is the ruins of the former Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall destroyed by the the world's first A-bomb on August 6, 1945.

It exploded about 600 meters above this building,taking the lives of more than 200,000 people and reducing to ashes the urban area ranging over a radius of 2 kilometers.

In order to hand down this terrible horror of nuclear weapons to future generations, and make it a warning to all human beings, we hereby declare the start of fund-raising campaign to enforce and preserve these ruins forever in cooperation with peace-loving people both at home and abroad.
